Classroom Acticity: Service-Learning Project

One of our goals this year is to use our math skills to benefit our local community. We will meet this goal by engaging in several service-learning projects. The first of these projects focuses on helping to prepare nutritional food boxes for families in need. These food boxes will include not only food, but also healthy recipes the families could make with the ingredients included in the food boxes. During this project students will strengthen and utilize their ability to add, subtract, and multiple fractions. In addition, they will begin to solve for one variable equations, and build basic budgets. More details about our first service-learning project are to come.
